Samstab firmly believes in adapting good plays for theatre. The plays staged by the group question the practices prevalent in society and thereby try to influence the audience to reshape their lives. In this ongoing practice, Samstab has tried to master the language of theatre and experiment to see how the same can be enriched. The group has gradually become a successful theatre destination in Kolkata. Founded by Sri Dwijen Bandopadhyaya in 1982, Samstab has more than 17 productions to its credit.

Some of its noteworthy productions are Abhimukh, Mallabhumi, Socrates Er Jabanbondi, Naak, Kalpaman, Dhunistanbha, Sundar, Musthijog, Nagarik, Tushagni, Gunadharer Asukh, Ghatak, Dharabahik, Ei Ghoom, Bhutnath, Manaschakshu, Chariganga and more.
