Led by playwright and director M. Sayeed Alam, Pierrot’s Troupe is a theatre group based in Delhi, India. It was formed in 1989 and since then has been consistently producing plays in Hindi, Urdu and English. The group has been involved in 2000 shows, in Delhi and other parts of India. Sayeed Alam enacts the protagonist’s role in most of the plays and is responsible for pioneering unconventional theatre in India.
Some of the popular plays by the group are Ghalib in New Delhi, Cut Cut Cut, Big B, Maulana Azad, K L Saigal, Ghalib and 1947. Artists like Tom Alter, Rakesh Bedi, Simple Kaul, Uday Chandra, Chander Khanna, Rakesh Bedi, Ashok Purang, Digambar Prasad, Harish Chabbra and Niti Phool have been associated with this group.
